Our Story

We are The Rock of Life, a group of friends and extended family united in Jesus with the sole desire to use the musical gifts God has given us to bring glory to His name, to spread the good news of Jesus and encourage a deeper worshipful relationship with Him.

Our story goes back to 2005 when two brothers, Carl and Russell, put on an event and recorded a CD to celebrate their parents’ wedding anniversary. The band was formed shortly after to play at a memorial concert for a close family member and then went on to play at charity gigs, local festivals, weddings and parties.

We also began to lead worship at our home church in Wiltshire as well as supporting local churches at outreach and fundraising events. Since then, we have grown a deeper passion to see Christians from all backgrounds and church contexts come together to worship as one body. We’ve had the privilege of seeing the Holy Spirit move powerfully as we pursue the heart of worship.

Our music is played from the heart with a melodic emphasis that weaves across each song from string and piano lines to vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar patterns. With the rich and ever-growing pool of songs available to the Church today we try to choose songs that will really resonate, give voice to those we worship with and that will lead everyone closer to the heart of Jesus.

If you’re interested in booking us to play at a service or event, have a question, or just want to say hello, then send us an email to enquiries@therockoflife.co.ukand we’ll get back to you.

Our name: The Rock of Life

Our name is a reflection of our faith in Jesus Christ (not the style of music we play!), it brings together our belief in Who Jesus is, and the new life He has given us though His death and resurrection.

  • The Rock…
In the Bible Jesus is referred to as the ‘Rock eternal’ (Isaiah 26:4), our fortress and shield where we can take refuge (Psalm 18:2). He is the Cornerstone (Ephesians 2:20-22), an unshakeable foundation that has no beginning or end, and the Solid Rock (Matthew 7:24-27) that we build our lives upon.

  • …Of Life
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6). It is through His death and resurrection that we have been given a new life (Romans 6:4), a life that is filled with hope (1 Peter 1:3) that can be lived to the full (John 10:10).
